An assessment of Hong Kong’s spatial planning in new towns from the perspectives of job accessibility, transport mobility patterns, and work-life balance

何穎教授

This project aims to investigate the job accessibility, commute and non-commute patterns and well-being associated with work-life balance with a particular focus on comparing new towns with the urban areas of Hong Kong. Four research objectives will be fulfilled to explore (1) job accessibility (i.e., the ease to access job opportunities) across new towns in Hong Kong; (2) its effects on commute and non-commute patterns; (3) the well-being of commuters across different household structures; and (4) the longitudinal change in the relationship between job accessibility and commute and non-commute patterns.
