Siting locally unwanted land uses (LULUs) is a major policy problem throughout the industrialized world. This research project aims to examine the underlying causes for facility siting impasse in Asia and other countries and to suggest ways and strategies that help resolve siting conflicts. It provides a platform for decision-makers, environmental assessment and planning professionals, academics, environmental and community groups to share experiences and to map the best way forward to meet the challenges of sustainable development.

We are holding several events on this topic:

June 16, 2007 Workshop I
Dec 12-14, 2007 International Conference
June 21, 2008 Workshop IIa
July 5 , 2008 Workshop IIb

This research project is supported by the Hong Kong Research Grants Council under the Public Policy Research Program (No. 4008-PPR20051).
