World Cities and the Urban Future

Summary:
A special class of cities ¡V world cities ¡V is examined across the major regions of the world by leading scholars worldwide. Recent trends are extrapolated for future implications. Key concepts are analyzed by region and subject. A conference on the subject was held at the United Nations University on 23-25 August 1995 in Tokyo, with funding provided by UNU, Japan Habitat Society and the National Institute of Research Administration (NIRA). Sixteen papers were read and a book to integrate them will be published.
