Summary:
This is a strategic research program for the following purposes:

• Establish a center of excellence in Hong Kong for advanced studies on geo-information science and technology by joining advanced research programs in Hong Kong and China;
  
• Enhance the teaching programs, especially the post-graduate student program, to meet the societal requirement;
  
• Provide services to Hong Kong and China by generating geographic information service network and forming consulting team;
  
• Foster international co-operations through joint research programs, workshops, and academic publications.

Colleagues from Engineering and Social Science Faculties worked together for interdisciplinary research projects.
