Summary:
The overall objective of the study is to develop an analytical paradigm and an intelligent environmental decision support system for water pollution control of the tidal river network in the Pearl River Delta. It will be a state-of-the-art decision support system for the management of tidal river networks in general and that of the Pearl River Delta in particular.

The specific objectives of the study are:

  1. to formulate a formal paradigm of water pollution of the tidal river network and economic development in the Pearl River Delta;
  2. to develop a decision support system integrating , in a seamless manner, databases, model bases, and expert system on control policies; and
  3. to make a specific application to water pollution control in the Pearl River Delta for system evaluation and improvement.
