Principal Investigator:

Lin, Hui

Co-investigator(s):

Lu, Guonian
Gong, Jianhua

Summary:
The "863" High-Tech Research and Development Programme of China was launched in March 1986 with the aim of enhancing China's international competitiveness through the cultivation of R&D capability in high technology. The programme covers 20 topics selected from eight priority areas: biotechnology, information, automation, energy, advanced materials, marine, space, and laser.

This research is to explore a new platform for geographic information analysis. It will integrate the GIS, VR and the network facilities to build up an environment that allows analysts to have a personal sense or "experience" of the real geographic environment.

The focus of this research will be on the distributed system, a virtual studio, to allow professionals from different sites to work together on concerned projects.
