Introduction

The programme requires two (full-time) or three (part-time) academic years for completion. In addition to register for the Thesis Research course every term to complete an M.Phil. thesis with original research, each M.Phil. student must complete 15 units of coursework. M.Phil. students with cumulative GPA of 3.3 or above may apply for transfer to the Ph.D. stream. Courses offered by the Division include:

1. GRM 5001 Research Seminar I (compulsory, 3 units)
2. GRM 5002 Research Seminar II (compulsory, 3 units)
3. GRM 5100 Advanced Geographical Methodology (compulsory, 3 units)
4. GRM 5110 Statistical Applications in Geography (compulsory, 3 units)
5. GRM 5210 Special Topics on Geography of Pacific Asia (elective, 3 units)
6. GRM 5220 Special Topics on Human Geography (elective, 3 units)
7. GRM 5230 Special Topics on Environmental and Resource Management (elective, 3 units)
8. GRM 5240 Special Topics on Geoinformation Science (elective, 3 units)
9. GRM 806R Thesis Reserch (compulsory for full-time students, 6 units)
10. GRM 803R Thesis Reserch (compulsory for continuing or part-time students, 3 units)

IT Proficiency Requirement
The university requires all students to pass the IT Proficiency Test before they graduate.
