Frequently asked questions and answers:
I am a science student (take Physics,
Chemistry and Biology). I haven't studied geography in the
A-Level, but I am very interested in geography and I got grade
B in geography in the HKCEE. I would like to choose Geography
as my first choice in my JUPAS. Is it possible?
Yes. AL Geography is NOT a
requirement for admission to our programme.
Are HKCEE results also counted in the
admissions process?
Both your HKCEE and AL grades are counted
for admission. AL is more important than HKCEE.
How many students your programme admit each
year?
Our department admits between 50-55 students
each year.
How good do my grades have to be to get into
the GRM programme?
Past statistics have shown that our department
is neither the easiest nor the hardest to get into among Social
Science subjects at CUHK. We stand in the middle. If you have
passed all subjects with E or above, you will have some chance.
Students with mixed grades of B, C, D and E will have a good
chance.
Do I have to put Geography as first choice
to enter the programme?
In the past, most admitted students have selected
our programme as their first choice in JUPAS. You will be
considered by the GRM programme first if you put GRM as your
first choice. It is highly advisable that you put GRM as one
of top 3 choices if you are really interested in joining our
programme.
What are the general entrance requirements of CUHK GRM?
Please refer to JUPAS handbook or http://web.jupas.edu.hk:6118/jupas/bin/jo.progSearch.InstInfo?type=ent_req&inst_code=D . Note that we only consider HKCEE results in the same sitting. Thus results from repeated HKCEE attempt will NOT be taken into account.
